Primary Features & SubstratesFeatures
Substrates
Adhesion should always be tested as adhesion does depend on age and manufacturer of substrate. Adhesion may be improved when the substrate is cleaned with a suitable solvent such as isopropanol. Ink HandlingAll personnel mixing and handling this product must wear gloves and eye protection. Clean up spills immediately. If product does come in contact with skin, wipe ink off with a clean, dry, absorbent cloth (do not use solvent or thinner). Wash the affected area with soap and water. Consult the Safety Data Sheet for further instructions and warnings. ApplicationThe DCA Topcoat Clear is formulated to be ready for use. Thoroughly mix the product prior to application. Use a medium nap paint roller or a synthetic lamb's wool mop applicator. This product can also be applied using a traditional wire rod liquid laminator. Do not apply additional coats or re-roll partially dry clear coat as surface degradation will occur. Maintain product temperatures at 65°-90°F (18°-32°C) for optimum print drying performance. Lower temperatures increase the product viscosity, impairing both flow and drying. Elevated temperatures lower the product viscosity, affecting flow and leveling properties, and film thickness. This product is recommended for application over Nazdar® UV and Solvent Digital Inks. |
DryingDCA Topcoat Clear will air-dry in approximately 30 minutes dependent on temperature and humidity conditions. Block testing is recommended prior to folding and packaging. Good air circulation is necessary to remove the vaporized solvents. AdditivesAll additives should be thoroughly mixed into the product before each use. Prior to production, test any additive adjustment to the ink. Reducer: Use 2732 Thinner to reduce the viscosity of this product. Add up to 10% by weight. Clean UpFor best results use warm or hot water with mild soap. Storage/Shelf LifeStore tightly covered at temperatures between 65°-90°F (18°-32°C).Product taken from the container should not be returned to the original container; store separately to avoid contaminating unused ink. DCA Series products should be protected from freezing. The shelf life of this product is 24 months from the date of manufacture when stored under prescribed conditions. Ink PerformanceOutdoor DurabilityDCA Topcoat Clear is designed for maximum outdoor resistance to yellowing and chemical attack caused by the combined effects of UV degradation and environmental pollution. When DCA Topcoat Clear is used with Nazdar® UV and Solvent Digital Inks, color variance of the original print will be minimal over a period of 36 months vertical outdoor exposure. To ensure Nazdar® DCA Topcoat Clear performs to its highest potential, it is important to use proven substrates (flexible vinyls and pressure sensitive vinyls) that do not “yellow” or vary from their original white cast when exposed outdoors. |
