technical data sheet NAZDAR Interference Specialty PigmentsInterference pigments are added to solvent-based and UV-curable screen printing ink systems to provide a subtle hue changing appearance when printed over a white background or a color-intense metallic finish when printed over a black background. These pigments can be combined with transparent colors to provide additional effects. |

UsesInterference pigments can be used with Nazdar solvent-based and UV-curable ink series. User InformationWhile technical information and advice on the use of this product is provided in good faith, the User bears sole responsibility for selecting the appropriate product for their end-use requirements. See full disclaimer at the end of the document. MeshMatch the mesh count to the particle size of the pigment. When the mesh opening is too small, larger pigment particles are blocked from passing through the screen and onto the substrate, eventually blocking the ink. The standard Interference pigments available range in size from 10-60 microns; most particles are mid-range size. 230-305 tpi mesh (90 - 120 tpcm) can be used; higher mesh counts may produce more blocking of the mesh with longer print runs. Reference your mesh manufacturer's guidelines as to the mesh count, thread diameter, and mesh open area. Pigment LoadMix up to 20% pigment by weight depending on ink system, mesh count, adhesion, cure, and desired effect. When inks are to be printed over Interference colors, the overprinting ink(s) must be evaluated for intercoat adhesion before proceeding with the production run. To maximize intercoat adhesion over Interference colors, we recommend that Interference colors be printed as late as possible in the print sequence. Interference pigments can be combined with Pearlescent and Multi-Chromatic pigments to create numerous effects. Higher pigment loads may require higher cure levels. Test adhesion properties when determining pigment load. |
Mixing ClearInterference pigments are intended to be used with mixing clear or metallic mixing clear. StorageTightly closed in dry area. HandlingInhalation is the primary route of exposure and irritation with Interference pigments. Therefore, it is recommended that all personnel mixing and handling these products minimize the creation of dust. If pigment is inhaled, seek fresh air and consult a doctor if feeling unwell. Consult the Safety Data Sheet for further instructions and warnings. Printed MaterialSpecial Effects Color Card (CARDSPL): provides screen printed samples and visual reference of the Interference pigments over white and black backgrounds. PackagingAll pigments are available in 1 pound containers. Interference Pigments
