Inkjet Banding: Identification and Root Cause Analysis

Inkjet banding can be caused by several key elements in a device. Challenges can include the environment, electrical components, UV lamp life, media, ink fluid dynamics, RIP settings and printhead voltages, amongst other key components — or even a combination. In this session, you will learn how to identify the challenge and what steps to resolve in the eyes of an inkjet hardware technician who is well-versed in all aspects of inkjet equipment repair, workflow, media manufacturing and ink chemistry. This lecture pertains to UV, solvent and aqueous inkjet.

Travis Barcelona
Travis has been in the printing industry for over 25 years and has a technical background in screen printing and inkjet technology. He holds service certifications for several wide and grand format inkjet brands along with certifications for most of the major RIP software programs. Travis is a G7 certified expert and teaches courses in color management and inkjet technology at SGIA, colleges, in the office, and at customer locations. He understands all principles of inkjet printing from data processing, color management, media, ink chemistry, equipment operation, UV technology, fluid dynamics, amongst other topics that relate to the inkjet printing process. Travis has travelled globally teaching this technology and resides at Nazdar Ink Technologies Corporate office in Kansas City with whom he has been employed with for 20 years.
